About
The Northern Alberta Reading Specialists' Council (NARSC) is a Canadian Special Interest Group of the International Literacy Association. Founded in 1978 by Reading Specialists in the Edmonton, Alberta area, NARSC continues to serve as both a membership body for reading specialists and a professional network for all literacy educators.
Our dinner meetings occur three times per year, in fall, winter and spring. These usually occur at the University of Alberta Faculty Club and include guest presenters from a wide range of literacy perspectives such as current literacy research, classroom pedagogy and curriculum as well as local community leaders, authors, and organizations that are keen to partner with us in promoting strong literacy development for all.
